WALTHER P.38 ac44 WW2 GERMAN ARMY SCARCE W/ 'fnh' BARREL MATCHING, ALL ORIGINAL, NON-IMPORT...C&R
WWII coded Walther and Mauser P-38 pistols will also have a. So, if you have a P-38 'ac 44 1234 b' the serial number AND block code IS the. Excellent German Walther P1 P38 Pistol 9mm: Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com they don't have dates on them. Is it a serial number thing?
NO RESERVE!! Here's another interesting pistol from a large collection of P.38 pistols that I will be auctioning. This relatively scarce P.38 that was manufactured by Walther in the last couple weeks of 1944. The serial numbers are properly matching on the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. The slide, frame, and locking block all carry the standard Walther E/359 acceptance stamp however the barrel is marked 'fnh' and carries the E/WaA76 acceptance showing that it was of Czech subcontract manufacture. Those ac44 pistols that are found with the 'fnh' barrels all appear in the 'L' serial number block, which was the final serial block assembled in 1944. It is believed that about 3000 pistols were assembled with the 'fnh' barrel in that year. This pistol shows the typical later war finish with milling marks evident. The rear tang on this pistol appears to have been slightly mismanufactured and touch-up at the factory with a file. The exterior of the barrel is particularly rough, a feature typical of the fnh Czech barrels. There are NO import markings, nor any indications that this is a Russian capture/'dip reblued' pistol. Overall condition is quite good and the pistol retains the great majority of its finish. There is some sharp edge wear and a few handling marks but there is no rust or pitting. I'd grade the original military blue finish at about 97% overall. The grips are the correct late AEG type and are in excellent condition free of cracks or chips. This pistol functions perfectly, including the safety/decocking mechanism. The bore is very good and shows bright, sharp rifling with only a trace of frost. One war-time magazine is included which is marked 'P.38' on the left side and E/359 (inverted) accepted on the spine. The magazine is in good condition except for the base which exhibits finish loss and some surface freckling. This is a rather hard to find WWII Walther P.38 and a great addition to an advanced collection.
